  1. Love Me Never Sara Wolf. Entangled Teen. 2016. Netgalley.

Isis Blake keeps track of how long it’s been since she’s been in love. As she counts the years, months, days, she tells us how she’s lost all the weight she used to have and put aside who she used to be. She is tough, independent, a champion of other girls. She’s moved to a new highschool in nowhere, Ohio. She makes a new friend and in defending her, meets Jack Hunter, the boy she is at war with. Jack has secrets and Isis is determined to figure them out. She doesn’t count on the fact that the boy’s cousin who hurt her lives in that town. Or that Jack Hunter may not turn out to be the monster she thinks he is.

OMG, this book is SO, SO GOOD!! From the moment Isis and Jack connect at the party, I was dragged in to the story and pushed other books I was reading aside to read this one. Isis is a wounded soul. I felt SO bad for her. She puts on this brave, confidant front so others can’t really see how damaged she is. She doesn’t believe anyone could love her. That she could love anyone. For her, that dream is dead. But Jack Hunter may just be the one that changes that. This is Book One of the Lovely Viscious series. I can’t wait for the next book!!

I could so indentify with this girl, coming from a tragic background. I cried with her, laughed with her, and plotted revenge. This book will haunt you long after you finish it. The story could be anyone’s. This is a book for those who need hope, who need to triumph over the demons of their past. It’s also just a roller-coaster ride of what love is, what it can be.

  1. A Daring Sacrifice Jody Hedlund. Zondervan. 2016. Netgalley

Julianna Wessex is a thief who used to be royalty. Her lands and her father were taken from her by her Uncle. She steals for her people in order to feed them. Lord Wessex has offered a reward for the Cloaked Bandit, not realizing that it is his niece who thinks is dead. Collin Goodrich is the son of a noble returned after being housed with the Duke of Rivenshire all these years. Julianna last saw him when he was a boy, playing a prank of her. She thinks he is cold and heartless like all the rest of the nobles who failed to come to her father’s aid. He captures her and for a bargain she agrees to stay a week in his world, and he will do the same. But when Lord Wessex shows up at a dinner party at Collin’s, invited by his sister who wishes to make a match with his son, all bets are off.

A fast-paced historical. Julianna and Collin are characters to root for. I was drawn into the world Ms. Hedlund wrote and saw the things Julianna saw in regards to he waste of wealth as well as the things Collin feared for her coming to pass. Betrayals loom in this story as well as the loyalty of the people, defending their lady. A truly remarkable, clean read!!

  1. Smarter, Faster, Better Charles Duhigg. Random House 2016. Netgalley.

The books is told is a series of studies. Interesting. It explans about tests down on soldiers, Saturday Night Live, test subjects, and more. I read the book thinking, however, that it would hold some secret to better productivity but that wasn’t the case for me. Maybe someone else will find it to be different.
