Writerly Things…9/10/17
Traci Kenworth
First off, prayers and hugs to all those affected by the hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Stay safe!
This past week, I’ve been working on the body basics template for OneStop. It asks about the different features of your character such as body shape and muscle mass, distinguishing marks, and clothing preferences. All important to figuring out who your character is. I find the little exercises helpful and know they’ll touch base on scenes to come in the future.
I also did the physical description template. It wants to know about smells associated with character, for example. Unique clothing. And gives you different scenarios to put your character into to see how they’d react. It gives you some ideas for your story and helps to flesh your character out more.
All in all, I’m finding that I like OneStop and what it has to offer. Not that I doubted it, Angela and Becca have had some great stuff over the years. I can’t wait till their new Occupation Thesaurus comes out! Speaking of such, I’ve agreed to write a personal story about some of the challenges I face as a writer for the blog tour. That’ll post somewhere between Oct. 25th and Oct. 27th depending on if the book publishes on schedule, which I’m sure it will.
Have a great week, take care, and God bless!
